I’ve got a confession to make...
There was a point where I just really didn’t get the fuss about LinkedIn.
It seemed a bit too ‘corporate’ for me. And let’s be honest, most people were just using it as somewhere to host their CV online.
But it’s in my nature to try and solve problems.
So a while back, I decided to take it seriously, dive in, and deploy the same strategies I’d used in other parts of my life and businesses.
Now I LOVE LinkedIn, and you should too.
First of all, the numbers speak for themselves.
This doesn’t mean you should rule it out if you’re serving B2C. With that user volume, you can still get incredible results if you’ve got an interesting offering.
Ever get the feeling that you haven’t got what it takes to run a business?
I know I used to.
I remember sitting down for lunch with one of my friends.
It was last year, so it was an altogether different affair to eating out now.
She had a great job which she loved, and while she didn’t have any desire to run a business, she was always curious as to how I was getting on.
She’d often ask me why I was so harsh on myself when it came to what I’d achieved as an entrepreneur.
And between us, I never had a good answer for her.
I guess, I just always felt like there were others out there who were doing the whole ‘business’ thing better than I was.
All of that despite having spent 20 years in business, building some great brands in the digital, marketing, and tech spaces - and selling businesses along the way too.
Plus successfully raising £200k on Dragon’s Den; although that business ended up failing in the end.
More on that another...
Do you believe in collaboration over competition?
It's a biggie for me and I'm one step closer to bringing that to life!
I love to connect people and to facilitate strategic partnerships, and I'm a big believer in learning so I am excited to announce the launch of Growth Co Lab.
Starting in Jan 2021, Growth Co Lab is bringing together ambitious and talented female founders to collaborate + connect + grow. I'm going to be sharing everything that I've learnt working in digital and marketing for over 20 years and running multiple successful businesses.
We're going to be brainstorming on topics like:
I’m sure you’ll have heard me talking about my A-Z of Growth (Get a free copy here). I’ve absolutely loved this little project because it’s forced me to really stop and think about what’s super important when it comes to growing a business.
And when it comes to the letter D, you know I’ve got to talk about Digital.
Thing is, our perspective on the importance of digital has changed dramatically this year.
Back in January, when nobody had half a dozen tattered masks and half-empty bottles of hand gel rattling around in their glovebox, digital was considered optional.
Something to focus on if you had a bit of spare time on a quiet afternoon.
But you don’t need me to tell you that A LOT has changed in the past 10 months.
And just like that, digital has become a critical part of any business that wants to not only survive but thrive in the next 12 months and beyond.
I know the whole digital conversation can be pretty...
